INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION

LIABILITY OF THE INSTALLER

Satler okna in vrata d.o.o. requires all installers to carry out their work in a professional and correct manner. Appropriate and agreed upon element installation materials shall be used (appropriate PU foam not intended as a fastening agent, sufficiently long element fastening screws (concrete and timber: min. 4 cm into the wall; bricks: min. 10 cm into the wall), external silicon and slat fastening silicone – acidless, interior silicone acrylic, interior levelling compound: Kemaglet FX, exterior: G). The aluminium threshold for balcony and front doors shall be lined with a tile or similar high-tenacity adhesive. Aluminium thresholds shall be lined for all types of installations up to 60 mm below the threshold. If not, then the attention of the client shall be drawn to the fact that they need to line or protect the threshold themselves.

LIABILITY OF THE CLIENT

Upon making an order, the client shall, for installation purposes:

  • clearly specify at what depth from the external edge of the wall the windows are to be installed,
  • clearly specify the thickness of the finished pavement,
  • clearly specify the thickness of the façade,
  • clearly specify the thickness of internal plastering,
  • to secure unlimited access to the area where works are to be carried out, provide for basic protection of the flooring and other equipment and for power supply,
  • to specify where left-hand and where right-hand windows are to be installed,
  • to specify the benchmark.

DISASSEMBLY (removal of old windows and doors)

Prior to disassembly, access to windows and doors shall be prepared and facilitated and the flooring protected by cardboard, PVC floor covering, etc.

Throughout the process, attention shall be paid to incurring minimum damage to the edges of the wall and façade by making use of appropriate disassembly tools. Following disassembly of old builders' joinery, the room shall be immediately cleared and cleaned to prevent damage to the flooring.

INSTALLATION

Windows shall be installed vertically, horizontally and in the proper direction. The exact position of the builders' joinery in the construction aperture shall be subject to agreement with the client. Windows and doors shall be installed in the construction aperture by means of screws. After installation is completed, all fastening elements except for those that secure the sash into place. Maximum vertical and horizontal tolerance shall amount to 1.5 mm per metre by elements of maximum 3.2 metre in length, but shall, under no circumstances, exceed 3 mm.

For larger elements and windowsills, tolerance shall not adversely impact functionality. Elements shall be levelled by means of a spirit level, fastened with screws and covered with a cap. A sealant shall be applied along the entire depth and circumference of the element. Windows and doors shall be insulated with either mineral wool, glass wool, foam tapes or assembly foam. After installation is completed, the functionality of all movable parts shall be verified.

Installation price shall include fastening screws and sealing polyurethane foam. The standard window and door fastening system is through the frame by means of Turbo-Screws® or metal inlays and screws. Old windows shall be replaced by cutting out old frames. Satler okna in vrata d.o.o. shall not be held liable for any damage incurred to window embrasures. Under exceptional circumstances, additional works (masonry) may be required during installation.

Window and door installation experts working for Satler okna in vrata will help you select the most appropriate installation for your facility as the installation method also depends on the material your windows are manufactured from as well as the facility you seek to provide with glazing.

INSTALLATION METHODS:

Dry installation – elements are fixed into the wall aperture, levelled by means of a spirit level, fastened with screws and covered with a cap (The screws are fixed 10–20 cm from all internal edges of the windows along the entire circumference. Maximum distance between screws: 60–70 cm), along the entire depth and circumference of the element. The elements are sealed with PU foam and are finished on one side with finishing slats and silicone. Elements installed into new construction projects are finished with exterior slats; with interior slats when the façade is finished or with PVC angles when the plastering is finished.

Semi-dry installation – elements are fixed into the wall aperture, levelled by means of a spirit level, fastened with screws and covered with a cap (The screws are fixed 10–20 cm from all internal edges of the windows along the entire circumference. Maximum distance between screws: 60–70 cm), along the entire depth and circumference of the element. The elements are sealed with PU foam and are finished on one side with finishing slats and silicone. This method of installation is usually applied by internal embrasure finishing (Knauf).

Wet installation – elements are fixed into the wall aperture, levelled by means of a spirit level, fastened with screws and covered with a cap (The screws are fixed 10–20 cm from all internal edges of the windows along the entire circumference. Maximum distance between screws: 60–70 cm), along the entire depth and circumference of the element. The elements are sealed with PU foam On the exterior, installation is finished with insulation spray plastering, insulating panels, glass wool, stones (granite, schist, etc.) or ALU façade (sheet lining). Interior installation can be finished with either conventional plastering, machine-made plastering or ceramics.

RAL installation – constitutes modern, triple-glazing installation of windows and doors in compliance with European RAL guidelines. This method of installation saves an additional amount of energy as vapour-tight compounds are used on joints between the sashes and construction. Permanently-elastic soft-cellular foam acts as a great heat insulating agent.  When thus carrying out RAL installation, joints are vapour-tight internally and water-tight externally, thus facilitating the transfer of vapour from the room into the environment but not vice-versa. RAL installations are recommended for installations of builders' joinery into new construction projects and are mandatory when constructing passive and energy-efficient houses.

Installing windowsills – Exterior windowsills are installed on the windowsill profile and not on the sash. The windowsill is siliconised and fastened with screws and PU foam. The joint between the finish of the windowsill and the façade is siliconised (silicone-coated) from the left to the right.

Interior windowsills are installed and pressed below the lower edge of the window and fixed with PU foam. The joint between the element and windowsill is not siliconised.

Installing blinds – there are two types of blinds: blinds installed above the window and blinds installed in front of the window. The construction aperture shall be properly prepared subject to the selected blind. Blinds installed above the window are fastened to the sash. The roller shutter is fixed 35 cm above the windowsill taking into consideration the upper hole of the roller shutter.

Installation of blinds in front of the window are subject to a clear specification of the exit point of the band and drilling.  The exterior embrasure shall be siliconised before the blind is installed.  The blind is fastened with screws. The roller shutter is fixed 35 cm above the windowsill taking into consideration the upper hole of the roller shutter.

Slat finishing – Slats shall possess the proper dimensions and a minimum 1 cm thereof shall rest on the sash. The left and right slat combination should match. Finish siliconising is carried out by means of silicone acrylic and neutral silicone. All joints between the slat and wall shall be internally siliconised by silicone acrylic and externally by neutral silicone. Decor slats shall be siliconised between the slat and the window and the slat and the embrasure (less likely deviation). If more than 4 cm of the slat rests on the PU foam, the area below the slat shall be siliconised as well (at least 3 times per metre).

Finishing embrasures with Knauf panels – Knauf (plaster) panels are cut into appropriate dimensions and placed behind the edge of the sash. If thinner panels than usual are needed (6.9 mm), they are to be fixed with adhesive intended for this purpose. Contact edges are finished with appropriate compounds, reinforced with a grating and angles (ALU, PVC). All joints are then polished to the optimum levelling.

Installing front doors – The door frame shall be precisely erected both from the left and the right as otherwise, the leaf and frame rest improperly and an aperture of several millimetres in size is created. Attention shall be paid to the fact that no arch is created on the side of the door where it is locked. The threshold shall be lined with adhesive.

INSPECTING AND TAKING OVER BUILDERS' JOINERY

The client shall be present at the facility at the beginning and end of installation works. Jointly with the head of the installation team, they shall personally inspect the installed elements and enter any observations into the handing-over protocol.  Any subsequent observations shall not be taken into consideration. If the client or its proxy is not present at the facility when installation is completed, the goods shall be deemed to be taken over free of any defects and observations or rights referred to in Article 461 of the Code of Obligations shall be observed:

Clients shall inspect or have the received goods inspected in the usual manner as soon as this is rendered possible under normal circumstances and shall inform the seller of any manifest defects within eight days and, for commercial contracts, immediately, or shall otherwise lose the right they possess in that regard.

If the inspection has been carried out in the presence of both parties, the client shall notify the seller of their observations concerning any manifest defects immediately or shall otherwise lose the right they possess in that regard.

If the goods have already been dispatched by the client further without subjecting them to inspection and the seller, at the point of conclusion of the contract, was or should have been familiar with the possibility of the further dispatch, this inspection may be postponed until the goods are received at their new destination; in that case, the client shall inform the seller of any defects they have been able to learn of from their own clients under normal circumstances.

Claims shall not be made for any minor surface deficiencies on the products or glazing unless resulting from mechanical impacts on the element construction process (cuts, bruising, etc.), impacting the functionality of the product and visible from more than 1 metre away. All other surface deficiencies shall be reported in writing when the products are collected at the company or after installation has been completed (handing-over protocol) or no later than within 8 days after they have been collected or installed. All other matters and glazing shall be subject to guidelines pertaining to evaluating the visual quality of glazing.
